Internships are valuable, educational opportunities that allow students to gain practical, hands-on work experience under the supervision of professionals. However, we know that securing an internship can be as much work as completing an academic class. It is important to pace yourself and plan ahead so that you can be successful in your search. Use the resources below as a guide for creating a manageable internship strategy.

Before you can begin researching companies and internship opportunities, it’s helpful to assess what type of experience you are hoping to have and spend time developing your wish list. This type of preparation will allow you to target your search and make the overall process more manageable.

Tell faculty, peers, and Department Chair that you are looking for an internship.
Update application materials
Begin applying
Do anything from the previous term that you have not yet completed

Register your Internship with Creative Careers by Friday, Week 1
Complete your grading requirements by Friday, Week 13
If needed, meet with a Career Advisor for extra support during your internship
